The goal of self defense is to prevent injury to yourself. The best way to avoid injury is to prevent an attack from occurring in the first place, to prevent a physical conflict. Violence is fast, dynamic, chaotic, and ugly. It's not something you want to face, for a variety of physical, ethical, and legal reasons. Prevention is easy to learn, and should be your primary focus in self-defense. If a situation gets so bad that you do need to resort to physical self-defense, you'll need a functional combination of strategy and techniques backed by a significant amount of training. Physical training in martial arts, even if you never have to use them, are great for both physical and mental health, and a great deal of fun. If you're going to train, you might as well train functionally.
This class includes training drills and techniques that can be found in various martial arts that are essential for physical defense. We teach you how to survive a violent encounter through practical, reality based martial arts training, and empower people to defend themselves in any situation. Studies show that you are less likely to be attacked if you are confident, and martial arts training will bring out that confidence within you. This class combines the striking of Muay Thai, the grappling of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the stand-up joint locking & throws of Japanese Jiu Jitsu, and the weaponry of the Filipino Martial Arts to create a complete self-defense system. It is an absolute no-nonsense approach to self-defense taught within a fun workout class.
